wellness:digging deep into the meaning of wellness
It is fact that wellness has been talked about throughout your life in some way. Whether that be noticing you are not getting enough sleep and wanting to improve on that or you prioritize your health and want to strive to be the best version of yourself by actively incorporating exercise and healthy eating into your life. We may think of wellness in terms physical health, but it is so much more then physical health. Wellness is a holistic integration of physical, mental and spiritual well-being, fueling the body, engaging the mind, and nurturing the spirit. This brings in the six dimensions of wellness which are occupational, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional. I am going to go in depth with the following six areas of wellness so that we have a full understanding of what wellness means and how these areas contribute to overall health.
Occupational wellness is a balance between work and leisure in a way that aligns with health and personal values.
Physical wellness has been proven to have many benefits and include, hydration, nutrition and physical activity components.
Social wellness is a necessity in life. In order for us to build positive relationships we have to maintain an optimal level of personal wellfare along with helping those around us.
Intellectual wellness is challenges and being open about your own belliefs
Spiritual wellness is finding your purpose and meaning in life and striving to have your actions align with your beliefs.
Emotional wellness is the identity of your own emotions as well as acceptance of others feelings and response to their own feelings.
The meaning of wellness is the state of being in good health. The choices we make are centered to wellness such as our diet, active lifestyle, and social life.
