Food is medicine: Lets talk how seed oils can create chronic illness
Chronic illness makes the top of the list for leading causes of death in the United States today. With my background in wellness, I have learned about heart disease, cancer, and diabetes having to be the top 3 chronic illnesses leading to death.
The shelves at our local grocery stores are filling with processed foods that have unhealthy ingredients such as seed oils that include vegetable oil, soybean oil and olive oil that our body does not like very well. Let me dig deep into seed oils.
Seed oils: Yes, you may have heard that seed oils are a high source of omega-6 and are a heart- healthy replacement for animal-based fats that also protect heart health. Lets take a deep dive into why seed oils aren’t as healthy as they say, and if you decrease the use, it may benefit your health; Seed oils are toxic byproducts. They break down into byproducts such as HNE, acrolein and MDA when oxidized which are very toxic. These byproducts lead to cancer, obesity, and diabetes. When you consume seed oils they accumulate into your fat cells. Think of a bottle of vegetable oil sitting in the sun, over time this causes your body to go rancid.
Here’s a few healthy alternatives:
Coconut oil
Butter
Ghee
Macadamia Nut oil
Organic extra virgin olive oils
Choosing healthy fats like the ones I listed above are shown to improve heart health, decrease fat in the body and provide many nutrients to the body.
